Designed by Architect, Gandon in 1790
Nestled in Emo Forest Park and Woodlands is the imposing Emo Court and Gardens, designed by the famous architect, Gandon in 1790. Why not enjoy the relaxing surroundings or visit the tea rooms for some home-made goodies. There are beautiful walks with a wide range of tree species, some at least a couple of hundred years old. There is also a beautiful lake with fish, swans and ducks togehter with a wide variety of flora and fauna including wild deer, red squirrels and hares.

Local History
 Items of historical interest in the locality
Architecture and buildings in the local area of historical interest include Emo Court, Gandon Church and Gandon Inn all designed by the renowned James Gandon who also designed the Four Courts and Customs House in Dublin. 
The local village church of Saint Pauls is gothic in style and houses a life size carrera marble statue of Lady Portarlington of Emo Court. There are also beautiful old stained glass windows. The adjoining cemetry  has some fine examples of the famous Celtic Cross. Across from church is an old pony shelter from the early 1900's and a newly refurbished garden adjoining.

Museums in our county for example, Abbeyleix Heritage House (Titanic connections) The Mountmellick Lace collection Huguenot in origin., Donaghmore Famine Workhouse Museum, the unique Fly Fishing & Game Museum in Attanagh and Steam Museum in Stradbally. The historic Rock of Dunamasce with the remains of an Iron Age ring fort is a sight not to be missed.

Interesting activities available locally
There are seven 18 hole golf courses in Laois. Green fees are reasonable priced with a driving range just 3 kms from Hillview Farm. 
Fishing, boating, game fishing and course fishing are available at Laois Angling Centre with equipment rental if required. 
You can also play ten pin bowling, crazy golf, paint balling, horse riding, pony trekking, all available within easy reach of Hillview Farm. The Slieve Bloom mountains is just 20 minutes away for hill walking or cycling or just enjoy a relaxing visit to the multiplex cinema in Portlaoise.

For the children we have modern, newly developed public playgrounds in Portarlington, Abbeyleix, Stradbally, Mountrath and Portlaoise, which also has a public skate park and public. 
On a wet day, you can enjoy indoor entertainment at the Roll n Bowl Centre, Portlaoise or visit the multi plex cinema, an enjoyabe experience for child and adult!
